About the role
The Scrum Master is responsible for ensuring team members communicate, coordinate, and cooperate; to meeting their delivery goals.
The Scrum Master is a servant leader who helps teams self-organize, self-manage, and deliver via effective Agile practices. The Scrum Master supports and enforces the rules of the Scrum process and other rules that the team has agreed upon. The Scrum Master also helps the team coordinate with other teams across the domain and communicates status to management as needed.
- Embrace servant leadership and display the behaviours that come with the key mindset shifts associated with agile methods
- Encourage and ensure agile ceremonies are understood and take place, facilitating where necessary
- Actively improves flow of work by identifying, escalating and helping to remove impediments/ blockers/waste for the team when required
- Encourage and help the team to implement continuous improvement ideas identified via various conversations including sprint retrospectives
- Assess the scrum maturity of team(s) and coaching them to higher levels of maturity, at a pace that is sustainable and comfortable for the team and organization
- Effectively communicate requirements to stakeholders, managing conflicts, issues and changes in order to ensure that stakeholders and project team members remain in agreement on solution scope and actual needs as opposed to stated or superficial needs are addressed and adhered to
Essential Skills and Experience
- 3+ years of relevant Project practitioner experience in an IT environment
- Minimum 5 years’ experience using Agile methods, 7 years’ experience is preferred.
- Experience playing the Scrum Master role for at least two years for a software development team.
- Knowledge of other Agile approaches: XP, Kanban, Crystal, FDD, etc
- Knowledge and/or experience with widely successful Agile techniques: User Stories, BDD, TDD, Continuous Integration, Continuous Testing, Pairing, Automated Testing, Agile Games
- Experience applying a wide variety of well
- Life 400 experience would be golden!
