The role is offered casually through Spinifex Recruiting, full time Monday to Friday.

We are looking for a Systems Support Officer that will work within the Client Solutions Information Technology Unit of the local council. This placement will start on the 24th of July and last until the end of the year for the right candidate.

The key responsibilities of the role are listed below:

Technical Support

  • Ensure assigned service requests are dealt with promptly and/or escalated within the service level periods.
  • Provide technical advice to users in relation to hardware and software operation, and maintenance.
  • Apply PC software maintenance releases as required.
  • Prepare and deliver ad-hoc or formal in-house training to users as required.
  • Assist with the development of reports and custom user requests.
  • Monitor and ensure that third party service level agreements are adhered to.
  • Assist in the purchase of computer hardware and application software.
  • Assist with the interrogation of Council’s corporate databases as required.
  • Assist with system backups in accordance with agreed procedures.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

Administration

  • Perform timely and accurate maintenance of the Information Systems computer asset register.
  • Monitor and maintain support requests and activities through the Information Systems Support Centre application.
  • Prepare and maintain systems and procedural documentation.

Customer Relations

  • Ensure regular and timely feedback to the customers throughout the duration and on completion of support tasks.
  • Maintain a high standard of professional conduct at all times.
  • Develop and maintain customer relationships at all levels within the organisation.

Issue/Problem Resolution

  • Resolve complex problems using analysis of information to ensure the continuity of data services.
  • Perform independent technical and non-technical research and documentation.

Communication & Collaboration

  • Ensure that users are made aware in advance of maintenance activities that may cause service disruptions.
  • Contribute to the development of policies, procedures standards and practices so they are appropriate for the current needs.
  • Develop, maintain and implement technical operating documentation and work procedures to ensure consistency in operation and their continued improvement.
  • Prepare and deliver reports, recommendations, or alternatives that address existing and potential problem areas.
  • Collaborate in the planning, design, development, and deployment of new applications, and enhancement of existing applications.
  • Communicate regularly with internal/external technical and operational staff, to ensure application integrity and security is maintained.
  • Establish and maintain quality staff/client relations.
  • Conduct training with appropriate Information Systems staff to ensure the transfer of knowledge of business system administration tasks/procedures.
  • Provide the Information Systems & Projects Supervisor with regular activity progress reports.
  • Represent Council externally as directed.

In addition to the key responsibilities listed below, the following are desirable:

  • Windows 10 troubleshooting
  • Office 2010 - 2016 Knowledge/Experience
  • Basic Network Troubleshooting (e.g. ping, netstat, understanding of ports & protocols)
  • SCCM Knowledge (How the client operates, how to check logs / cache etc)
  • Basic Windows PowerShell / CMD batch knowledge
  • Basic Active Directory skills (how to create and assign users/groups)
  • Fileserver troubleshooting skills (NTFS/Share Permissions, UNC Paths, how to check connectivity)
