The Opportunity
Due to continued growth the global wealth management organisation is looking for an experienced software developer to join the existing team.
The core focus of the role is to maintain and develop the Core System applications and associated data. This work will be carried out as part of a team which is responsible for the full development life cycle of core business applications. Work will normally be specified and prioritised by the Head of Business Analysis.
This position will suit a self starter who is proactive and can work across both BAU ad project demands.
Primary duties:
- Assist Business Analysts to analyse proposed system functional changes and design software solutions to meet business requirements
- Provide an analysis of Core System processes to the business as requested by the BA team
- Design, develop and unit test software changes
- Undertake all tasks with due regard to the policies, regulations, instructions and standards within IT
- Investigate IT system problems and propose system enhancements
- Provide ongoing application support to system users
- Inform help desk staff of common problems and solutions to ensure that up-to-date support is available to staff requiring assistance
- Carry out Solaris system administration tasks as required.
- Provide technical advice to other IT staff
Minimum Qualifications/Experience:
Strong analysis and C language programming skills in a Unix environment are required.
- Three or more years of experience developing business applications using the C programming language in a Unix (preferably Solaris) environment
- Experience with Oracle SQL, OCI/ODPI/ PRO*C development highly desirable
- Relevant development technology knowledge and experience
- Solaris system administration skills and Unix shell scripting is also desirable
- Excellent analysis skills
- Experience in financial sector is an advantage
- Able to work independently and as part of a team
- A computing related degree or equivalent experience
- Good verbal and written communication skills
