We are currently seeking a Principal Service Architect to take accountability for the service design, development and implementation of complex applications services for Oakton clients; in addition designs the platform solutions that Oakton is taking to market on Dimension Data Cloud or other cloud vendors. This position will require you to be a subject matter expert focused on service design, service operations, DevOpps, application hosting and security consideration to maximize reuse based on the business processes and governance rules for sharing.

Typical Responsibilities May Include:

  • Work closely with sales and clients to develop either the Oakton Platform Go To Market solutions
  • Determine how Oakton, Dimension Data, NTT Group and partner technologies can be applied to meet client and business requirements by building the relevant proposals and service solution architectures.
  • Be a trusted advisor to clients on optimal designs including cloud infrastructure.
  • Play the role of the technical leader for complex new service application design projects
  • Conceptualise a new complex application hosted platform or managed services solutions
  • Ensure the delivery of the service design requirements to the service support team and ensures the completion of the design in line with client and business needs.
  • Translate the operational requirements of the services into manageable sub tasks that can be executed by various internal stakeholders and the client for establishing the service(s)
  • Resolve any escalated technical or operational issues during the service design, service establishment phase, transition and on-going services management phase of the service
  • Ensure the testing of service for operational parameters, efficiency and resolve escalated problems with the design prior to go live and then work with the operational team to ensure on-going tuning of the service
  • Create views of service architecture in the form of diagrams which are derivatives from the abstract, multi-dimensional and multi-faceted vision of the service
  • Document all processes leading to the development of procedures for application use and security
  • Direct the operationalisation of the application service by ensuring the evaluation, testing and modification of the application until its performance metrics meets business and client goals
  • Manage risk and define the interaction between application packages, other external services, databases, hosting services, network and middleware systems in terms of functional coverage.

Key Selection Criteria

  • Demonstrated experience in providing technical leadership for complex new application services
  • Display knowledge of market position and trends for solutions and services
  • Display relevant business process and functional knowledge
  • Ability to estimate effort for Service Management and Service Transitions and then work with Service Delivery Managers to understand the true costs such that estimation models can be revised
  • Broad technology awareness across ServiceNow, RemedyForce, ScienceLogic, Solarwinds, SCOM
  • Technology agnostic understanding of the DevOps culture and tools
  • Service Asset and Configuration management
  • Service Reporting tools and Operations Centre capabilities
  • Service Catalogue Management and IT Store capabilities
  • Emerging Operational improvement capabilities such as Knowledge Management through AI, Chat Bots for Service Request, Containers and others.
