Immediate need for an experienced Systems Engineer to join a well known company close to the CBD
Your new company
This leading organisation is very well known in its sector. Due to a busy period, they are after a Systems Engineer to join there busy team for an initial 3 month contract. This organisation is on the outskirts of the Perth CBD and has parking. In order to be considered, you must be available immediately.
Your new role
In your new role you will be supporting the deployment of a number of Cyber Security initiatives across the IT environment including:
- Working with IT teams (Networks, Servers, Platforms, Database, Storage, Security and Project Team) to agree technical and build requirements
- Installing Splunk log forwarders (agent software) on targeted Windows and Linux servers (manually, using SCCM on Windows and RPM on Linux)
- Determining where server logs are stored on nominated servers and documenting their locations, content and access methods
- Deploying scripted changes to Windows and Linux Server configurations where required to support agent rollout
- Building virtual Windows and Linux Servers from standard build guides
- Monitoring server performance to ensure there are no undue performance impacts from producing logs and forwarding them to Splunk
- Updating (and/or proposing updates to) build documentation - e.g. updating the standard build documents to include the Splunk agent installation steps
- Adhere to change management standards
What you'll need to succeed
In order to be successful in this role, your will have System administration and engineering capabilities covering:
- Windows Server (2008 R2, 2012, 2016)
- Linux Server (Red Hat, 7.5)
- Command line and batch scripting
- Windows and Linux software package deployments (SCCM, RPM)
- Active Directory
- Databases (SQL Server, Oracle and MySQL)
- Web servers
- DNS (Infoblox)
- VMWare
- Firewalls
- Cloud hosting environments (e.g. Azure)
- Cisco network and security products
- ServiceNow
- Splunk
- Proactive / self-starter
- Able to work in complex IT environments liaising with a broad range of stakeholders
- Good communicator / negotiator
