The Opportunity | Database Administrator
Working within our IT and Payment Services division at Greater Bank, as the Database Administrator you will assist in driving the ongoing improvement of Greater Bank’s database infrastructure including the administration of the design, integrity, backup and recovery, performance and upgrades of all Greater Bank’s databases.
What will you do?
- Provide support and technical expertise to key stakeholders regarding solving problems, enquiries and design
- Ensure ongoing maintenance, upgrades and security of production databases Including monitoring and improvement of performance, availability and integrity
- Analyse current and new methodologies to determine whether introducing them would increase database and system efficiency
- Analyse, design and tune databases and internal systems to achieve greater efficiency
- Undertake alterations to database structures to meet the needs of developers, stakeholders and change in business volumes and data storage requirements
- Maintain backup strategies to ensure full database recovery
What we’re looking for
To be part of this exciting opportunity we are looking for someone with:
- Degree, post graduate, diploma or higher education qualifications in a relevant IT field
- 5+ years’ experience as a Database Administrator
- Thorough knowledge of Oracle 12C in a High Availability environment
- Thorough knowledge and experience with Red Hat Linux required
- Oracle Rdb or SQL Server database structures, interfaces and layered products knowledge desirable
- Excellent problem solving and analytical skills
- Excellent communication skills will allow you to work closely with all areas of the business, including technical and non-technical stakeholders
- Exposure to legacy environments across production and DR environments (OpenVMS) would be highly regarded
- Displayed experience in a 24X7 online environment
