HiQ Systems is looking for a Junior Software Engineer / Data Analyst to join an exciting role based in Adelaide at Defence Science and Technology Group (DST) working with the improvised threat Operations Analysts (OA) team. The role offers you the opportunity to contribute towards a structured and mature environment.
The successful candidate will be required to gather and analyse data from multiple disparate Australian Defence Force (ADF) sources (e.g. from operational HQ, Task Forces and units) to extract trends, patterns and operational insights. The candidate will apply their software engineering and analysis methods and approaches to identify, understand and assess current and emerging improvised threats and identify potential mitigations.
Role: Junior Software Engineer / Data Analyst
Location: Adelaide
Contract Duration: Until 30 Jun 2019, with possible extensions
Experience: 2 - 5 Years
Note: Client will consider only Australian Citizen's for this role with NV1 security clearance or be eligible to obtain.
Required Skills & Experience:
- data analysis and visualization techniques,
- be proficient in some of the coding & scripting languages (e.g. C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, Python) and frameworks/systems (e.g. .NET libraries, VBA, Visual, Studio, Eclipse),
- be proficient in SQL and Web technologies (such as, HTML, CSS, ASP),
- be proficient in the utility and development of SharePoint systems,
- desire and an ability to learn new languages and technologies,
- contribute to projects to enhance and extend previously completed studies of operations,
- outstanding organizational and problem-solving aptitude for a Defence context,
- contribute to and participate in team discussions and other working groups to enhance the improvised threat OA team capability, knowledge and awareness,
- assist and contribute to the development of processes, procedures and tools to improve the OA team capabilities and improved support to clients and other stakeholders,
- self-motivated, analytical and driven to overcome challenges,
- excellent analytical skills,
- good oral and written communication skill, client interaction skill and collaborative team working.
