The Project Manager Global Engineering is expected to manage new hardware product development projects from industrial design through prototype and production release. This proactive PM will work with Development Manager, Program Management, Engineering and Operations to ensure projects are progressing to schedule and will provide regular update to stakeholders. Monitor the project from initiation through to delivery including planning and directing schedules, development phase reviews, monitoring budget/spending and critical operational metrics. Collaborative development of hardware product with internal SME and external design development and manufacturing partners is key expectation of this role.

What you'll do

Manage hardware engineering activities on assigned projects:

  • Taking a leadership role in driving the project to meet its functionality, cost, timescale, and quality objectives
  • Coordinating all activities across Engineering, Test and Operations for the assigned project
  • Follow Aristocrat’s product development process guideline and ensure timely introduction of new hardware product to market.
  • Develop and maintain key project management documentation such as project management plan, timelines & detail Project schedules, budgets, risks and issues and other require matrices.
  • Provide regular status updates on assigned projects and conduct stakeholder meeting reviews, and program updates
  • Lead projects working with Development manager and cross functional engineering managers and with external teams engage in contractual product design, development & manufacturing.
  • Manage the NPI handover of engineering project with the Development Manager.
  • Provide management reporting for assigned projects.
  • Delegate tasks as required, to both internal and external teams as appropriate to their role, ensuring that all aspects of development, regulatory approvals, testing, submissions and supply chain operations are completed per the project plan.
  • Ensure project related engineering change orders are processed and released.
  • Organise timely orders of prototypes / submission materials and ensure samples comply with engineering specifications, variances are addressed.

For each assigned project:

  • Lead and manage conceptual reviews, conduct product design reviews ensuring that DFMA principles are applied and adhered such that selected suppliers will be able to supply products and components at optimal BOM cost, product quality and production supply lead times.
  • Own the schedule and all artifacts due at each phase development process which you will develop with Development Manager.
  • Ensure key stakeholders are communicated clearly and involved during the development process.
  • Maintain balance between resource constraints and project delivery, under commit and over deliver.
  • Assist in developing process improvement plans within the team setting; proactively provide inputs on area that require improvements. Comply and adhere to submissions and regulatory requirements.

What we're looking for

  • Must be a self-starter with innovation, integrity and attention to details
  • Ability to operate effectively in a fast moving high-pressure environment
  • Prior experience of managing project under large strategic programs is a plus
  • Able to build an effective, coordinated team, without having everyone in the team reporting directly into the project manager
  • Direct experience managing project with engineering team in global locations a plus
  • Direct experience in product development in regulatory environment
  • Demonstrate ability to accomplish work through the project team and cross functional stakeholders
  • Knowledge of product development and engineering change processes
  • 3 years of manufacturing or product design experience
  • Knowledge of manufacturing processes such as sheet metal forming; die casting; plastics moulding; RIM; vacuum forming, LED lighting, harness assembly and PCB assembly.
  • Knowledge of Project Management methodologies and certifications, preferably PMBOK project management.
  • Good interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to work and communicate effectively across global project teams.

    Experience / Qualifications:

  • Tertiary qualifications in an Engineering discipline (preferably Mechatronics, OR Mechanical /Electronics with relevant experience).
  • Project Management qualification highly desirable, Agile, PMP or equivalent.
  • Commercial management experience highly desirable.
  • Strong PC skills (Ms Project, Visio, MS PowerPoint, Word, Excel & use of ERP systems).
  • Working knowledge of ERP/MRP Systems.
  • Gaming or relevant regulated industry experience desirable.
