About the role

Visionstream has ongoing Wideband project work and we are now looking for an experienced Splicer to join our project in South Australia.

Reporting to the Area Supervisor in the Wideband Field Services team, your primary purpose will be to undertake splicing activities as required to meet the client’s standards on all jointing / fibre work to the distribution and local network. 

Day to day duties will include, but not be limited to:

• Working on Telstra network which covers OJs, UCN/FISTS, HDODF's OFDF's OFTUs running of patch cords
• Testing optical circuits and dark fibre testing producing optical fibre workbooks
• Completing work site inductions/risk assessments
• Completing quality As-builts
• Cutovers (out of hours and weekend work can be required)

About you

Your demonstrated splicing experience, particularly external carrier networks together with a good understanding of formulation and implementation of Safe Work Method Statements give you the essentials for the role.

In addition, you must have:-

• Understanding of associated risk assessments
• High-level communication skills
• Initiative to work in an unsupervised environment
• Effective time-management skills
• Significant experience on live cable, using up to date splicing / testing equipment
• Current, valid driver's licence
• AUSTEL open, optical endorsed -mandatory
• General Industry Construction OH&S Induction card (RED CARD/WHITE CARD)- mandatory
• Confined Space Training with recognized Trainer – desirable
• Traffic Management Training – desirable
• Level Two First Aid - desirable
