The Security and Operations Manager is a hands-on role responsible for the implementation, security and operations of the organisation’s email cloud platform solutions. The Security and Operations Manager will deliver high quality, innovative and cost effective secure technology infrastructure via operational excellence at all levels and will oversee the delivery of the strategy.

The Security and Operations Manager will be responsible for providing technical and functional leadership to team members in the domain of operations. Will also need to build a strong culture of delivering resilient system standards and procedures.

They will be accountable for all aspects of deployment and technical operations including technical project resources, scheduling, risk management, internal and external communications, status reporting, customer on-boarding activities and resource management.

The key responsibilities are:

• Develop, lead and motivate a team of Engineers across multiple disciplines
• Manage day-to-day operations of the cloud platforms
• Develop, implement and monitor a security policy framework
• Assess emerging threats and trends in the security space and plan and execute internal and external security scanning and testing 
• Identify areas of improvement and implement strategies, based on best practice, to ensure the cloud platforms are functional, performant and resilient
• Identify and mitigate areas of risk
• Assess new releases to ensure they meet functional, security and compliance standards
• Apply and ensure compliance with appropriate legal frameworks and operational standards
• Have a major focus of delivering quality services to our customers and provide exemplary client support

​​The successful candidate will have:

• Solid experience in a similar managerial role, having played a key role in the implementation of a DevOps culture/practice and standards
• Demonstrated technical leadership and people management
• 10 years of relevant industry experience
• 5 years managing cloud-based platforms is desirable
• Expertise in information security architecture technologies and IT Security principles, ideally with formal qualifications from an industry recognised certification program e.g. Cisco
• Advanced Linux administration skills
• Solid hands-on experience with scripting languages such as Python
• Extensive experience with infrastructure automation tools like AWS CloudFormation, Ansible, Jenkins
• An ability to drive to big picture goals while valuing and maintaining a strong attention to detail
• A Bachelor (or higher) degree in a technology field, or equivalent experience
• It is highly desirable that the candidate has experience in email server technologies
