ABOUT THE ROLES

As we are helping existing internal design teams scale we have demands for the following types of resources in March/April. Thought Collaborative's consulting arm is also growing and we anticipate opportunities for project work.

Below are the types of roles we help our clients with, some of them we are actively trying to fill.

  • 1 x Mid/Senior UX/UI Designer with upfront research and usability testing experience - retail 
  • 2 x Mid/Senior Visual Digital Designer (apps and web) - finance and telco
  • 2 x Mid/Senior UX Designer with Design Research Skills and Usability Testing Skills - medical
  • Anticipating demand - Mid/Senior HCD, CX/Service Designer - banking

1 x MID/SENIOR UX UI DESIGNER with upfront research and usability testing experience
Sector: retail
Length:6 months with possibility for extensions 
Key skills: visual/UI design, interaction/UX design, user research, usability testing

You'll be trying to understand the staff and customer experience to identify needs and pain points that can be resolved through a digital solution.

For this role, we are after someone that has:

  • A strong UX/UI background in similar roles across different disciplines and industries.
  • An optimistic problem solver who can find ways to get things done and maybe a little bit of you wants to change the world.
  • The ability to work collaboratively in an agile delivery team
  • The maturity to maintain effective relationships with a large number of internal stakeholders
  • An interest in keeping up to date with trends and innovations
  • The knowledge to continue to add and contribute to the team's design thinking methodology
  • Most of all we want someone that plays nicely with others and puts the people at the heart of their designs. By people, we mean both your team, stakeholders and the user.

In terms of technical skills, we want:

  • A demonstrable understanding of design processes
  • Someone that can take an idea from concept to wireframes and visual design (Axure, Illustrator, Photoshop, Sketch)
  • Design research experience is highly desirable (ethnographic research/contextual enquiries) 
  • Experience synthesising and producing design research deliverables is also highly desirable (personas and customer journeys) 
  • The ability to plan and execute your own usability tests and create paper or virtual prototypes is highly desirable (InVision, Sketch, Axure) 
  • An understanding of inclusive design principles (accessibility) and designs to match

2 x MID/SENIOR VISUAL DESIGNER (APPS & WEB)
Sector:
 telco and finance
Length:3 months with possibility for extensions

In the telco sector:
You'll be designing parts of their website dedicated to B2B clients as well as improving their tablet/mobile app.

In the finance sector:
You'll be helping the UX designers in a digital delivery team improve their main web presence.

For this role, we are after someone that has:

  • A strong work history UI or digital design (at least 2 years or more).
  • An experience stakeholder manager that can both explain their visual design decisions and take direction and criticism well
  • The ability to work collaboratively in an agile delivery team
  • An interest in keeping up to date with trends and innovations
  • Most of all we want someone that plays nicely with others and puts the people at the heart of their designs. By people, we mean both your team, stakeholders and the user.

MID/SENIOR UX DESIGNER OR EXPERIENCE DESIGNER
with Design Research Skills - Medical
Key skills
: design research/interaction, design/usability testing, design sprints
Length: 4 month project with the possibility of extension

We are in the final stages of winning some project work for a medical registration body. We have pitched a strategic piece of work followed by design and validation of an MVP.

You'll create a journey of empathy for the key stakeholders of the organisation.

We define Mid-weight UX Designers as having at least 2 years experience and Seniors as having 4 years or more of experience.
 
About your duties

  • You'll be comfortable facilitation workshops at all stages of the design process
  • After aligning with your stakeholders, you'll execute the necessary research activities to understand the problem
  • You'll then take the insights and take an idea from concept to prototype all the way through to delivery
  • You'll validate and shape your design ideas through user testing
  • Oversee the delivery of visual design (large format printouts of journey maps, personas, UI, etc)

More specifically, we expect you to:

  • Plan and conduct user research and apply our research methodology.
  • Support customer and stakeholder sessions through the synthesis of findings into insights and key quotes.
  • Present your findings and designs through persuasive stories using personas, scenarios and journey maps
  • Support the delivery team and developer in understanding the prototypes and insight that shape changes to the prototypes
  • Lead workshops to understand the minim-viable service that is needed to support the launch of the MVP.

For this project, you'll be supported with a project manager as well a design principal to help you understand and plan for the Thought Collaborative way.

MID/SENIOR HCD, CX/SERVICE DESIGNER 
- Banking
Key skills: design research, service design and usability testing/value proposition testing
Length: 6 months with a possibility of extensions

You'll be applying design research to create differentiated and pervasive customer experiences that deliver measurable improvements.
As part of this HCD team, you'll be expected to deliver change, be it by meeting integration objectives, transformation initiatives, or the realisation of agreed benefits.
About you

  • The tenacity and resilience to work in a large corporate in both BAU as well as part of agile innovation labs.

About your technical skills
Of course, you'll be expected to:

  • Plan and conduct user research and apply the right methodology commensurate with the area of focus (customer interviews, site visits, diary studies, etc).
  • Support customer and banker sessions through the synthesis of findings into insights and key quotes.
  • Present your findings and designs through persuasive stories using personas, scenarios and journey maps as well as the creation of new hypothesis
  • Support the delivery team and developer in understanding the prototypes and insight that shape changes to the prototypes
  • Apply hypothesis-driven design to shape the direction of the design through usability tests (experiments) and redraft user stories.
  • Understand the legal risks and assurance requirements and address any issues in a prompt fashion.
  • You'll take turns with other members of the design team in raising standards of the practice of HCD. This may include the delivery of classes for both practitioners and non-practitioners, contributing to the knowledge base, preaching the gospel of design to the business.
