Format Development - What we're like

At BIG W, our customer is at the heart of everything we do.  The store landscape is moving rapidly and we are evolving in line with the changing needs of the families that shop with us.  The Format Development team delivers specialised and expertise support to improve the store experience and focus on development, format and design for the future BIG W store.  

The role

Together with the team, your role as the National Planning and Design Manager will be to lead an effective planning and retail design team, to deliver the best in class store design.  With a focus on a significant investment into store renewal, you will be responsible for:

• Develop the design scope for all stores, ensuring that the design is aligned to the guiding principles of BIG W.  

• Collaborate with the Head of Store Development on the strategy for 2019 and beyond

• Work with the team to execute on key projects for 2018

• Define and set the architecture for all store design and planning data

• Manage external Suppliers to ensure a high level of design is being developed at all time

• Develop disciplined ways of working and continuous improvement to embed and integrate innovation in the the planning process

About You

To be successful in this role and thrive in our turnaround culture, you will need to have a passion for design and planning together with:

• Previous experience in delivering new design concepts, ideally for a retail organisation

• Knowledge of building construction, shopfitting or interior design will be highly regarded

• Experience using Revit and Autocad are essential 

• Proven leadership experience, with a passion for coaching, developing and mentoring a team
