The opportunity

We have an exciting opportunity for a Group Leader Design Resource within our Engineering System Integrity Division of Sydney Trains.

 

The Track Design Team is part of the Track Engineering Business Unit which overall provides track design, track engineering and surveying services for Sydney Trains track maintenance and capital infrastructure projects. It also provides minor design input to the work of other disciplines, for example overhead wiring, structures, drainage, platform-strengthening and geotechnical services.

 

Reporting to the Principal Track Design Engineer, the Group Leader Design Resources is responsible for leading a team of engineering professionals in the delivery of complex multi-disciplinary projects and provide best practice technical engineering advice and services to Sydney Trains.

 
Primary tasks include;
•           Track design

•           Network performance reporting

•           Development of effective, timely, and evidence based resolutions to identified engineering issues.

•           Management of the provision of high level engineering advice and technical solutions consistent with Sydney Trains and ASA Standards in order to maximise the safety and reliability of relevant Sydney Trains asset classes throughout the asset lifecycle.

We are looking for someone who is degree qualified in Civil Engineering (or a related discipline) or who has a minimum of 8 years’ experience. You will have evident experience in the design, construction and maintenance of relevant track infrastructure and related assets with an understanding of risk assessment design principles for hazard controls; requirements for consultation when making changes that affect safety.

 

You will have the ability to evaluate feasibility studies as well as previous use of use of engineering software, including an understanding of CAD, GIS, database management and simulation output analysis.
