The Role:
Based in beautiful Byron Bay, Afends Clothing is offering an incredible opportunity for an experienced, technical and organised, Production & Design Room Assistant to join their motivated team.
Reporting to the Design and Production Manager, the successful applicant must have at least 3 year’s experience in a similar role and enjoy the challenges of a fast-paced team environment.
This role is completely technical, not a creative design role. We are looking for somebody who will embrace this position with a high attention to detail, a positive attitude and a willingness to help.
Required skills and competencies:
- Incredibly competent and quick in Adobe Creative Suite specialising in Illustrator
- Minimum 3 years experience in fashion/textile industry in a similar role
- Detailed knowledge of garment construction
- Accurately measure a garment
- Good understanding of fabrications
- Strong computer literacy and competent experience with Excel spreadsheets
- Ability to work autonomously and collaboratively within a team to achieve tight deadlines
- Exceptional planning and organisational skills
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- High attention to detail
- A tertiary qualification in Fashion or Graphic Design or equivalent industry experience
Key Responsibilities:
- Create technical garment drawings using Illustrator
- Set up range overviews for designers based off Range Development Sheet
- Ensure all tech pack templates are set up by season
- Assist designers with tech packs and artwork resizing
- Update tech packs with any changes
- Finalise Range Overviews by month for Brand Manager once range is complete
- Liaise with Brand Manager and Sales regarding any SMU requirements
- Create SMU and STM options for approval and finalise tech packs
- Set up size specs per season
- Prepare Point of Measure diagrams for size specs
- Track and check in Photoshoot and SMS range samples
- Coordinate samples required for photoshoots, costings meetings, range release and design room based on RDS
- Print all size specs and attach to Design Room SMS
- Accurately measure all samples marking all discrepancies for fit sessions
- Assist in garment fittings, sample inspection, approvals and QC
- Work with the Product Developer in the approval of lab dips and strike offs
- Help with seasonal SMS comments by supplier
- Create care labels for all fabrications per season
- Maintain fabric and trim libraries
- Work with the Design and Production Team to maintain critical path deadlines
