Statutory Planning Appeals Advisor
- Full time, ongoing position
- Salary range $94,144 to $105,344 plus superannuation
- 9 day fortnight available

This position plays a key role in the administration of the Manningham Planning Scheme and all relevant Acts, the forward planning of the City and policy development. This is primarily achieved through facilitating appropriate representation in respect of planning appeals to the Victorian Civil and Administrative Tribunal (VCAT). This role also provides advice and guidance to a range of stakeholders in relation to planning appeals.
The ideal candidate will have:
- A tertiary qualification in Town Planning and a demonstrated town planning experience, preferably in local government.
- Proven experience in planning advocacy at VCAT, panel hearings and similar forums.
- Detailed knowledge of relevant legislation, relevant appeal decisions, and all relevant State Government policies and amendments.
- Excellent written communication skills and demonstrated ability to prepare concise reports, with high-level attention to detail.
- Effective communication skills, including the ability to use persuasive language to discuss issues with stakeholders to achieve positive planning outcomes.
- Demonstrated ability to analyse problems and develop a range of solutions.
- Ability to provide advice and guidance to members of the planning team.
- Ability to manage time, set priorities and organise work outputs so as to meet objectives and timelines, despite conflicting pressures.
- Understanding of the political context MCC operates within and ability to apply this understanding to decision making.
- Drivers Licence valid in Victoria.
