Consequently, we are arguably one of the biggest employers of specialist development professionals in our Development Services (DS) Branch which handles a diverse and wide scope of work. 

This is the ideal opportunity to utilise your specialist architectural landscaping expertise to provide professional advice on the assessment of complex development applications. These applications provide a range of urban design/planning and landscape design challenges that will stretch your skills and provide personal development on a daily basis.

Specifically you will be involved in:

  • interpreting and applying standards and legislation
  • providing supervision, coaching and advice to team members to develop team skills and capacity
  • prepare and present submissions, including recommendations with reasonable and relevant conditions for customers and committees
  • contribute to the development of legislation, policies and procedures
  • prepare and conduct 'without prejudice' discussions and be an expert witness as required
  • exercise delegated authority within scope of this role to approve plans under the City of Brisbane Act
  • use electronic systems to electronically review and assess development applications at all stages

In order to be considered for this position, you will need to have the following:

  • a Tertiary qualification in Landscape Architecture
  • experience in applying best practice in landscape architecture and open space management principles
  • experience in contributing to the assessment of development applications in a complex and legislated environment
  • experience in developing and maintaining relationships, influencing and making decisions in a sensitive, political environment
  • experience in applying a high level understanding of current and relevant legislation

This role will require a Criminal History Check.
