As one of Australia’s leading retail Pharmacy groups The My Chemist/Chemist Warehouse Group is continuously expanding and experiencing major growth. Our dynamic and fast paced operation is based in Preston and we are now seeking a Building Designer/Draftsperson to join the team.

About the Role

We are now looking for a talented Building Designer/Draftsperson to work in a fast paced / team orientated environment, on a variety of residential & light commercial/retail projects. You will be involved in all stages of projects from design concept to construction drawings.

Key Responsibilities of this role will include, but are not limited to:

• Preparing, lodging & working towards receiving of building / planning permits
• Accurately preparing architectural drawing sets for stakeholders reviews
• Liaising with builders to provide solutions for site issues when required
• Liaising closely with relevant Project Manager’s
• Explain drawings to associated teams & provide adjustments as necessary
• Review rough sketches, drawings, specifications & engineering packages to ensure conformity with design drawings
• Provide regular reporting on job progression & completion
• Assist in day to day department operations when necessary

Skills and Experience

• Minimum qualification - Adv. Diploma of building design (architectural) or similar
• Previous experience in this field of work (preferred)
• Proven design skills (Portfolio)
• Technical knowledge and understanding of planning and Building regulations/procedures
• Strong written & verbal communication skills with a good standard of client, consultant and council liaison
• Sound knowledge of ResCode, BCA and Building Regulations
• Proficient in the use of Revit architecture
• Experience working with consultants & council planning preferred
• Great organisational skills and attention to detail
• Microsoft Office skills
• Adobe Photoshop skills
• Strong work ethic with the ability to meet tight deadlines
