This is a highly rewarding but challenging role located in Mount Waverley within the busy Product Development team.

Reporting to the Senior Residential Designer, your responsibilities will include:

• Preparing design documentation in full and on time that supports the product release process and the display home program;
• Ensuring designs are developed in accordance with Company policies and objectives and meet product design brief;
• Ensuring all documentation produced is of a high standard and meets building regulations and quality control guidelines;
• Design and draft all aspects of the home including – floor plans, elevations, internal details, facades and construction details using CAD;
• Check and compare all design documentation to ensure consistency and compliance with product design brief;
• Draft display centre master plan layouts and streetscapes ensuring compliance with developer guidelines and building regulations in conjunction with Metricon display design philosophy;
• Prepare sketch plans for display homes showing displayed options/upgrades in conjunction with Design Team;
• Quality Control of Documentation (Design, Display and Master);
• Attend workflow meetings to ensure all work will be completed within agreed time frames. Discuss issues requiring attention and obtain action plans to remove any impediments (including Design, Display and Master);
• Show awareness and aptitude in the design and documentation of all aspects of the product range;
• Contribute ideas that improve the marketability of all new designs based on previous experience and feedback from relevant parties; and
• Contribute ideas that improve the quality and ease of construction of the product range.

The successful candidate will have:

• Successful completion of a Diploma of Building Design & Drafting, Diploma of Architectural Drafting or equivalent practical experience;
• The successful candidate will have a least 5 years design and or drafting experience;
• Experience in the residential volume home building industry in a design or drafting capacity will be highly regarded;
• Highly organised – ability to multi-task and deal with a variety of activities;
• Highly developed interpersonal and communication skills;
• A sound understanding/knowledge of the Australian construction process;
• Working knowledge of the residential home construction process;
• Working knowledge of ResCode, BCA, 5 Star Energy Rating System, sustainability principles, and developer guidelines; and
• Basic Microsoft WORD, EXCEL and OUTLOOK computer skills.
