Catering and Accounts Assistants

The Catering Department is Sydney’s premium delivered catering service. Based in Alexandria, The Catering Department is a young and dynamic team, delivering to Sydney’s leading multi-national corporate environments, resident caterers in leading tech agencies across Sydney, as well as catering to festivals and special events. 

The team is seeking to support its growth with the addition of two customer service professionals to assist in the daily coordination of client orders and requests, daily delivery logistics and general book keeping. 

The role would be ideally suited to someone looking to take their excellent customer service skills to the next level in the office environment – or the next step into event management and coordination.  Similarly, experience in book keeping and a desire to work in a dynamic environment with key responsibilities outside of only accounting is ideal.  

Key elements of the role include: 

  • Receiving all incoming calls and emails in relation to client orders;  
  • Ensuring orders are promptly responded to and confirmed within our catering software programs; 
  • Ensuring clients are promptly invoiced and payments confirmed in accordance with their agreed trading terms; 
  • Daily accountability to the Executive Chef to ensure all orders are in production as confirmed with clients;
  • Preparation of daily runsheet and logistics and rostering casual staff according to the daily demand; 
  • Entry and reconciliation of accounts receivable, accounts follow ups; 
  • Entry and reconciliation of company purchases and supplier accounts. 
  • Working with the company directors on creative adhoc tasks including, but not limited to – social media management, new software implementation, special event and festival coordination, menu planning and food styling for regular photographic shoots. 

Ideally you would: 

  • Have a proven track-record in excellent customer service;
  • Have a love of food; 
  • General computer skills – Microsoft office programs and general mac familiarity; 
  • Knowledge or experience with Xero or similar accounting packages; 
  • Ability to work unsupervised and multi-task between client responses and daily logistics coordination. 
  • Familiarity with social media platforms, email marketing software, client database management. 

Ideally the successful candidates would have some of the above experience or interests, but the greatest asset would a be friendly personality with a positive attitude towards customer service… 

This is a predominantly Monday to Friday role, with one Saturday shift per 8 weeks, salary commensurate with experience.  Immediate starts available.
