This is one of those rare, all-purpose roles that will suit an unpretentious, multi-skilled down-to-earth office professional with great skills and a talent for keeping everything around the office ticking over just nicely.

This exciting organisation is an international member association that is committed to advancing the practice of community and stakeholder engagement through education, advocacy and building partnerships.

So, we’re looking for an individual interested in community, with high level PA skills and a cheerful personality to make something special of this brand new, dual role.

We say ‘dual’ because about half of your time will be spent in providing high level support to the CEO. That, of course, will include all the usual capabilities for a position of this type including diary, travel and accommodation, and the daily use of your advanced IT abilities across the Microsoft suite.

But as well as providing this sophisticated secretarial support to the CEO, you need to be equally comfortable handling all the more basic admin-type jobs that abound in any small, busy office.

So, while the CEO is your first priority, your varied day might also include providing support to the wider team in the form of various administrative tasks, data-entry, project support, help with membership events and training, and other tasks that are required from time to time. 

Some of these are admittedly quite basic: but need to be done promptly and cheerfully, with your usual attention to detail.  

Then, since this is a national membership organisation with international links, there’s also a dynamic – and growing - customer service component.

In fact, you can expect to also spend quite a bit of your day answering queries from the public, checking things out for members and trainers, implementing targeted call cycles to let members know about upcoming events – and so on.

It’s a bright, busy job where you’ll frequently be left to your own devices to work unsupervised. So, you need confidence, expert phone skills, great conversational and inter-personal abilities and a natural inclination to always ‘go the extra mile’. A good memory, the ability to ‘sail on’ in spite of frequent interruptions and a knack for quickly absorbing new information will all be very useful traits. As will your ability to handle whatever crops up with characteristic warmth and style.

But whatever broad skills-set you bring to this job, the most important will be your genuine love of engaging and interacting with others.
