REMPLAN are specialists in providing area-specific data. We are a team of economists, planners, demographers, economic development specialists, analysts and software developers who create online economic and demographic analysis software and provide consulting services to economic development and planning practitioners in local, state and federal government agencies, consulting firms, university researchers and students throughout Australia.

REMPLAN has offices located in Bendigo, Gold Coast and Adelaide. An opportunity has arisen for a motivated and experienced Business Unit Manager to join the team at REMPLAN in our Bendigo office. Due to ongoing growth we require an experienced individual to join the team, with aspirations of growing and co-ordinating the operational and administrative side of REMPLAN.

Your role will be primarily focused on the internal management of the business and its operations.

Currently many administrative and operational tasks are carried out by staff members across the team.  We are seeking to create efficiencies and grow capacity within the business by establishing a dedicated Business Operations Unit

The first goal of this position is to take over a number of functions from existing staff and implement new systems and processes to drive efficiencies in the business. As the business grows, the second goal is for you to become the head of an expanded Business Operations Unit.

As the Business Unit Manager you will:

  • Ensure that client management tasks and invoicing are undertaken on time and correctly
  • Manage travel arrangements for training, consulting and management staff
  • Organise and manage the company's conference attendances and sponsorships
  • Prepare reports and analysis of the company's consulting and software activities and overall financial performance
  • Manage website and social media content
  • Train staff on systems and processes
  • Drive consistency and quality assurance of all online, printed material and project outputs.

The role will require you to:

  • Be responsible for the management and operations of a complex business operation
  • Utilise your well-developed organisational, financial, communication and presentation skills to drive internal operations and support client requirements
  • Support the financial management of the business including performance reporting, financial review and analysis
  • Support future recruitment, staff development and planning
  • Support the business development function by driving operational efficiencies across the team including client reporting, staff training and travel
  • Implement best practice and support quality assurance to ensure efficient and timely delivery of software and consulting activity, drive consistency and quality of business outputs

As the successful applicant you will display the following:

  • A relevant tertiary qualification and/or additional post graduate qualifications in management, accounting, business or similar will be highly regarded
  • Well-developed and relevant managerial experience and a proven record of accomplishment as an effective leader
  • Demonstrated business acumen including the ability to analyse, develop and implement short-term business plans to achieve long-term strategic objectives
  • The ability to prioritise workloads, use time management techniques to perform duties in an efficient and effective manner, and to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines within a small but complex environment
  • Strong professional leadership demonstrating positive work behaviours with a genuine commitment to business outcomes
  • A customer-focused approach
  • Good interpersonal skills and the ability to work well in a close-knit team environment
