The Sub-contract Manager forms an essential role in the support of commercial and contractual activities and is responsible for the effective management of all major and minor sub-contracts within the programmed maintenance of Defence Vessels as they apply to BAE Systems Operations.

Your key responsibilities will include:

  • Acting as a single point of contact for all issues in relation to contract compliance

  • Leading the resolution of contractual issues and disputes arising with suppliers

  • Ensuring adherence to contractual obligations through effective commercial management, including payments, claims, warranties, cash flow, flow down of contract amendments

  • Effectively managing variations to the subcontract to ensure impacts are minimised, communicated and fully understood

  • Ensuring that emerging risks are identified, costed, monitored and managed appropriately; including those of the suppliers' supply chain

  • Working closely with the project team, ensure that the project team achieves the required performance in terms of schedule deliverables, cost and quality and requirements

  • Proactively managing the performance of suppliers to achieve the requirements of the contract from a schedule, cost and quality perspective, developing and embedding the relevant KPI's

  • Facilitating and maintaining effective working relationships with suppliers, engaging with engineering and project management to ensure a comprehensive and coordinated approach to the interface with the supplier is maintained

  • Generating and managing subcontract management plans and project reporting as required

  • Supporting BAE Systems Henderson bids in accordance with governance processes

  • Implementing and following policies and processes as determined by the Commercial and Procurement function, ensuring compliance with relevant acts, legal demands and ethical standards

As the ideal applicant you will require:

  • A tertiary qualification in commercial, contracting or supply chain management

  • Demonstrated experience in a commercial/sub-contract management position

  • Previous experience working in the defence, maritime or resources industry

  • Experience in a range of software systems

  • Strong communication, interpersonal, negotiation and influencing skills

  • Advanced problem solving skills and ability to balance conflicting priorities

A Defence security clearance is required for this role, therefore to be considered applicants must be Australian citizens and eligible to obtain and maintain appropriate clearance.

International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) is applicable and as such, your nationality may be a factor in determining your suitability for this role.
