The Uniting Church in Australia was formed in 1977, with the amalgamation of the Presbyterian, Methodist and Congregational Churches.
An opportunity has arisen for an experienced Research Officer to join the Safe Church team at the Uniting Church in Australia, Synod of WA. This position will be based at the Uniting Church Centre in East Perth.
The role is reporting to the Safe Church/Royal Commission Officer and working closely with other members of the Safe Church and General Secretary Support team.
This is a 6 month Fixed-Term opportunity.
This role will be involved in the following areas (among others):
- Assisting and supporting the Safe Church team in all areas of work as required
- Undertaking research, retrieval, redaction and preparation of records and information for Redress claims
- Assisting with the organisation, administration and record keeping of the Safe Church Awareness training programme
- Assisting with Safe Church and Professional Standards data input, analysis, reporting, auditing for compliance and storing of participant’s attendance records and related documentation
- Liaising with the UCA WA Archivist to access survivor records from the UCAWA Archives and other UCA records
- Responding to surveys, consultations and requests for feedback from other Church office staff, Assembly office and more broadly as directed
- Maintain accurate records of work undertaken both in computer and hard files
- General administrative tasks as required
As part of a small team, the Safe Church Research Officer will need to be flexible to support other members of the team during busy periods.
The successful candidate will have a proven ability to work in a team environment, excellent communication skills and effective time management skills.
They must have knowledge of and experience working with archives and researching and accessing historical records and strong experience with document management systems.
