VEC Civil Engineering (VEC), a subsidiary of the Downer Group, is a recognised leader in bridge design and construction, road and rail work, civil construction, water infrastructure and steel fabrication services, operating throughout the Eastern States of Australia.

Due to recent project success and continued growth within the business, VEC require the services of a Project Administrator to join our Irrigation Scheme construction team in Scottsdale, Tasmania. 

The Position

The successful applicant will be responsible for providing QA and administrative support to the project management team and contributing to project success.

The Project Administrator will be responsible for:

  • Coordinating meetings including setting the agenda and the recording of minutes;
  • Liaising with sub-contractor representatives, internal and external stakeholders and suppliers for administrative purposes;
  • The management of site registers, and project records;
  • Facilitating staff inductions and the on-boarding of new contractors;
  • Processing timesheets, purchase orders, receipt in and outgoing goods and preparing invoices; and
  • The coordination and tracking of the purchasing of goods.

Essential Criteria

  • Previous experience in a similar role within the construction sector;
  • 3 to 5 years professional office experience and a practical approach;
  • Demonstrated document management and quality assurance experience;
  • Sound IT literacy including intermediate to advanced skills with MS Office suite;
  • Excellent organisation and time management skills; and
  • Excellent people skills and the ability to work in a team.

Desirable Attributes/Skills

  • Relevant Certificate III or IV in industry related field (i.e. business (preferred), frontline management, project management)
  • Experience in collating and updating quality records and reporting
  • An innovative, motivated thinker with personal drive and commitment
