If you love, live and breathe management systems, this is the role for you!

In this position you will support our Environment and Sustainability Team in developing, implementing and maintaining our Environmental Management System (EMS) and ensuring it covers all functional and operational areas of Queensland Urban Utilities.

We’re looking for someone who thrives in managing data and documents, is meticulously organised and has a real eye for detail.

As Environmental Management Systems Coordinator you will work closely with the Program Leader EMS and the Integrated Management System (IMS) team in providing key technical advice. This will include:

  • Implement the EMS manual to align with existing practices and systems
  • Oversee the development and ranking of QUU’s environmental aspects and impacts
  • Work with our management team to develop and implement the environmental objectives and targets to align with the results of the aspect and impact ranking
  • Implement Environmental Management Program(s) so that the environmental objectives and targets can be achieved
  • Oversee the development of applicable standard operating procedures related to the EMS and their integration with the IMS
  • Develop and conduct an audit program for the EMS, including the development and implementation of corrective action tracking
  • Regular review of the EMS manual and other controlling documents so that the program is up to date and reflect current work activities

This is a brand new role so you can make it your own. Your choice whether to work in the Fortitude Valley office or in the Ipswich office.

Our ideal candidate will be a constructive and persuasive communicator with the ability to provide specialised advice. You will also have:

  • Exceptional analytical, conceptual and problem solving skills to develop and provide innovative solutions
  • The ability to interpret and communicate the ISO 14001 standards, and other environmental legislation
  • Highly developed skills in Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, Visio and corporate data management systems (e.g. GIS, Electronic Document and Records Management System, Compliance Management Systems)
  • Experience working with data visualisation tools such as Power BI

We are also looking for the following knowledge and experience:

  • experience developing, implementing and managing a company-wide EMS based on the ISO-14001 2015 Standard
  • experience developing and implementing Aspects and Impact Registers
  • experience undertaking environmental audits of operational areas and EMS elements
  • Significant experience working with an integrated management system

This is the right time to be joining the Environment & Sustainability team, as Queensland Urban Utilities works hard to strengthen its environmental management position. This role offers variety, daily challenges, and the opportunities to work autonomously and take on plenty of interesting projects. You’ll never be bored!

We’re not your regular water and sewerage service - we pride ourselves on innovation and this earned us a spot in BRW’s Top 10 Most Innovative Companies List for 2015. Our Innovation Program is delivering operational efficiencies, improved safety practices, enhanced customer outcomes and improvements to our workplace culture.

At Queensland Urban Utilities we believe in creating an inclusive culture where all our people are supported, differences are respected, and individuals’ contributions, knowledge, skills and experiences are valued and encouraged. We see the value in creating diversity of thought within our business.

Our employees enjoy a range of benefits – from flexible working arrangements to support work life balance, career development opportunities, generous maternity and paternity leave – just to name a few.
