The Company
AMA (NSW) is a medico-political, not-for-profit membership organisation representing doctors in both public hospitals and in private practice. The Association addresses issues in health, lobbies government and provides a wide range of services to members.
The Role
We currently have an opportunity for a permanent part-time receptionist to be the face of our organisation. Working 8:30am-12:30pm Mon-Fri (20 hours), you will be responsible for fielding incoming calls, taking messages, meeting and greeting guests and some general administration tasks.
Responsibilities
The key responsibilities will include:
- Operating the switchboard (4 lines) to answer all incoming calls and redirecting, announcing, taking messages as required
- Fielding calls from our members by asking initial screening questions before redirecting to the professional services team
- Greet visitors and inform the relevant person in the office of their arrival
- Record all packages entering and leaving the premises and inform recipients on arrival of packages
- Assist with mail outs, booking couriers and general filing
- Maintain the internal staff phone register
- Record staff absences throughout the day
- Ordering and distribution of stationery and kitchen supplies
- Organise the kitchen duty roster
- Maintain and administer building evacuation register
We are looking for a bright and bubbly person with excellent communication skills. To be successful you must:

- Be able to work autonomously as well as part of a team
- Have demonstrated computer proficiency in Microsoft office (Word, Excel and Powerpoint),
- Have a strong business acumen
- Demonstrate pride in your work
- Previous reception experience is favourable
