We are a 40 year old charity seeking an experienced bookkeeper and administration assistant. This appointment is for six months requiring 30 hours per week and the candidate to work from home. 

To be successful in this role you must be very organised, have an excellent eye for detail and strong communication skills.  You must be easily accessible and responsive to calls and emails.

You will have a relevant degree or equivalent qualifications in accounting or bookkeeping and must be registered as a BAS agent.

Experience

Ideally the candidate will have demonstrable experience with:

  • Proven experience and proficiency with XERO accounting software including preparation and lodgement of BAS, payroll, journals, accounts receivable and payable;
  • Budget preparation and reporting;
  • Creating, updating and maintaining process documentation;
  • Strong administration skills;
  • High attention to detail and ability to prioritise and work independently with minimal supervision
  • Experience communicating with boards, sub-committees, auditors and management;
  • Experience in taking and preparing minutes;
  • Report writing and compliance management with regulatory bodies and boards;
  • 'Start-up'-like organisations requiring high levels of time management, multi-tasking and flexibility;
  • Organisations using robust governance and reporting structures embracing continual improvement; and
  • Working effectively with minimal supervision.

Key Responsibilities:

Provide effective administration services and support including a range of accounting, XERO, data entry and management and secretarial support services.

  • Financial reporting and activities including payroll, super, banking and reconciliations.
  • Data entry and reporting using XERO accounting software
  • Preparation and lodgement of BAS, payroll, accounts receivable and payable
  • Assisting with process maintenance, expenses and authorisations
  • Preparation of financial reports including Board reports
  • Maintaining insurance policies including; D&O, public liability and work cover
  • Grant administration, invoicing, payments and reporting
  • Coordinating investment reports
  • Assisting with the audit process
  • Company secretariat support, compliance and reporting
  • Taking and preparing minutes from Board and committee meetings
  • General duties including assistance with scheduling and managing meetings and events.
