AFL SportsReady is an independent, not-for-profit company, established in 1994, which is dedicated to helping young Australians to develop careers through traineeships and educational opportunities.

We have kick-started the careers of approximately 13,000 young jobseekers, including over 1,500 Indigenous Australians, and helped develop over 700 sporting organisations and other businesses across Australia.

AFL SR’s is a National company with around 80 staff and trainees located all across Australia, and a head office based in Melbourne. The NSW/ACT team office is located in the Allianz Stadium complex in Moore Park, Sydney.

THE OPPORTUNITY

The purpose of this role is to provide State based and National administration support for AFL SR’s Employment and Education operations.

A day in the life of this role could involve providing administrative and data entry support to our educator, mentor and field officer, organising team events and functions, taking phone calls and providing information about our programs, and linking in via video conference with the National Office administration team in Melbourne.

This role would suit someone who is highly organised and efficient with their time, enjoys bringing people together, being ‘the glue’ of the office, but is also comfortable working autonomously and setting their own direction.

It’s an office based role that offers a fair degree of flexibility and autonomy, and work-life balance, while supporting a team that is regularly out and about.

The key responsibilities of the role include:

  • Perform office management duties and general administration to support NSW and ACT team.
  • Manage and coordinate employment related administration relating to traineeships.
  • Manage and coordinate education related administration relating to traineeships.
  • Provide customer service to a broad range of stakeholders and customers.
  • Collaborate with other admin staff around the country and in Melbourne for shared administrative tasks.

  • Base salary between $48k and $53.5k per annum (commensurate with experience);

  • Additional 2 days of cultural leave for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander team members; and
  • Support for professional development, and opportunity to undertake accredited courses as part of AFL SR’s Education arm.

KEY SELECTION CRITERIA

  • 1+ years’ experience working in an administration officer position or equivalent.
  • Valid working with children check.
  • Very organised approach to management of work tasks.
  • Ability to manage time effectively.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Sound problem solving ability.
  • Proactive approach to performance of duties and communication with team.
  • Collaborative and team focused approach.
  • (Desirable but not mandatory) Experience with Job Ready application
  • Working with Children’s Check or ability to obtain
