The Receptionist will work as part of a team providing services to women and children experiencing domestic & family violence and to the community in general. This role involves working closely with the Management Team and Administration Team to support the effective and efficient operation of all aspects of the administration of the organisation.  DVAC recognises that quality administration facilitates the core work of the service and the organisation is therefore committed to ensuring that administrative systems and supports are of the highest quality.  The Receptionist may be required to work in both our Ipswich and Toowoomba services from time to time.

Preferred Qualifications and Experience

  • Previous experience in  Administration/ Reception.
  • A strong understanding in use of Microsoft Office (e.g. Excel, Word, PowerPoint), as well as experience in word processing, data entry and database management.
  • Highly developed clerical skills.
  • Highly developed skills in undertaking reception duties in a sensitive and confidential manner.
  • Well developed interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Experience in petty cash and minor financial matters.
  • Current driver’s license (compulsory).
  • Current Blue Card and police checks are a requirement for all workers (DVAC will assist the successful candidate with these).

Selection Criteria

  1. Outline your experience and skills of administrative functions (e.g. computer skills, data management, reporting, Excel spreadsheets and other software programs) and how your experience will benefit the administration team. 
  2. Outline your ability to work collaboratively and professionally with colleagues, take direction from management and communicate effectively and appropriately with consumers and service providers.
  3. What is your knowledge of the issues affecting women, children and young people experiencing domestic and family violence, and your understanding of feminist perspectives on domestic and family violence.
  4. Describe your ability to show initiative to prioritise and multitask, including in crisis driven situations. This also requires an ability to prioritise principles such as confidentiality and safety.
