Cessnock City Council provides a diverse range of services and facilities for the residents within the local government area, as well as visitors to the area. We employ approximately 320 employees and are situated within the Hunter Valley of New South Wales, approximately 120 kilometres north of Sydney and 40 kilometres west of Newcastle.
An exciting new leadership opportunity is available for a Business Improvement Specialist to lead and implement business and process improvements, to improve efficiency and effectiveness within the Planning and Environment Directorate.
Working within the Business Support and Customer Relations team, this key position will continually cultivate innovation, change and productivity to achieve excellence. This role will also be required to:
- Supervise and lead Council’s School Based Trainees;
- Identify and develop opportunities for business transformation and drive the implementation of continuous improvement initiatives, productivity improvement and cost saving opportunities;
- Work effectively in conjunction with Planning and Environment Managers and Team Leaders to deliver continuous improvement opportunities promoting innovation, contemporary concepts and excellence achieving Industry standards; and
- Provide training, user support and advice to the Planning and Environment Directorate on corporate systems.
To succeed in this role, you will have:
- Tertiary qualifications (minimum level diploma) in Business Administration, Information Technology, Management or other relevant discipline, or extensive relevant experience in a similar role;
- Contemporary knowledge of change management with a minimum of 5 year experience;
- Demonstrated leadership experience in a supervisory position, including the ability to effectively lead, inspire teamwork and manage the performance of a team; and
- Experience identifying and highlighting opportunities for business transformation and in driving continuous improvement initiatives that ensure the organisation achieves its performance objectives.
- $67,676 - $78,361 per annum plus 10.5% superannuation
- 35 hours per week
