About RSPCA WA The Royal Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (RSPCA) WA is the state's leading voice in animal welfare. RSPCA WA is managed locally but works toward the goals of the organisation Australia-wide. On an average day, we employ around 90 staff and we have the support of an amazing group of volunteers. Together, our team works diligently toward preventing animal cruelty.
About this opportunity
The position is responsible for the improvement of the welfare of animals and the lives of people through the development and implementation of the Pets in Crisis Program, which will assist families affected by domestic violence who have companion animals. This position provides support to the Community Outreach Coordinator. It is for a maternity leave cover and is a part-time two days per week role for 6 months.
Duties
- Review current options and explore new options that will ensure companion animal safety and ongoing care for families affected by domestic violence.
- Identify and establish communication with key stakeholders for knowledge and resource sharing.
- Assist in preparation of MOUs with key domestic violence service agencies.
- Identify training needs for domestic violence service workers, to better assist affected families with companion animals.
- Provide accurate progress reports, as required.
- Engage with & educate members of the public to enhance responsible animal ownership
Skills & Experience
- Excellent communication skills
- Sound computer skills, including MS Office Suite
- Experience in the development of external networks, particularly in Government and NGO environments
- Experience in undertaking projects and successful project management
- Demonstrated animal handling skills, particularly companion animals
- Good physical fitness & health
