Medical Receptionist
A position for a medical receptionist has become available at a busy General Practice in Tamworth. This practice strives to provide care for every stage of life with a commitment to coordinated, comprehensive, continuity of healthcare.
This position is responsible to the Office Manager and the Practice Manager. The preferred candidate should have a deep understanding of all duties and responsibilities attached to the role and will be expected to uphold the philosophy, goals and professionalism of the practice.
This is a permanent position with an average of 38 hours per week.
Selection Criteria
Essential
- Ability to maintain high level of professionalism and confidentiality
- Excellent communication skills both written and verbal
- Ability to work independently, show initiative and work productively in a team environment
- Ability to communicate with a diverse range of people
- Previous experience in medical/ health reception/administration
Desirable
- Working knowledge of Best Practice software
- Working knowledge of Windows based software system (e.g. Excel, Word)
- Understanding of MBS Schedule
- Understanding of medical terminology
- Understanding/ experience in General Practice Accreditation and standards
Key Responsibilities
- Answer phone in a courteous and professional manner
- Receive and convey messages in writing, verbally and electronically
- Liaise with patients and their families in a compassionate manner
- Liaise with GPs, health professionals and their staff
- Manage appointment book
- Manage clinical documents appropriately with a high level of accuracy (e.g. type, scan, file)
- Handle cash, EFTPOS and other payments
- Participate in ongoing professional development activities
- Maintain patient/practice confidentiality
- Any other administration duties as directed by management
Successful applicant would require:
- Working With Children Check
- Current CPR certificate within the past three years or willingness to participate in training
- A pre-employment interview
- At least two appropriate references for contact
- Drivers license
