The Firm
We are a small but busy firm located in Bowen Hills with a team of approximately 12 engineers. We pride ourselves on creating a relaxed, friendly and supportive environment for our employees.
The Role
We are seeking an office administrator to cover a 10 month maternity leave contract beginning mid-September. The position is ideally suited to someone returning to work from a similar position or a student studying part-time. The position offers 2 days per week with a moderate amount of flexibility on which days the successful candidate would like to work.
The role will be varied including the following key responsibilities:
- Generating invoices, paying bills and chasing up aged receivables
- Basic bookkeeping/ record management (expense and income reconciliation in Xero)
- Assist bookkeeper in completing tax obligations (sending statements, finding transactions etc)
- Managing the internal project database (opening and closing jobs, allocating associated costs to jobs etc)
- Answering phones, taking messages and transferring calls
- General office management and maintenance (purchasing supplies and groceries, tidying kitchen etc)
- Coordination of travel arrangement and social events as required
- Assistance with ensuring Quality Management processes are followed (training will be provided)
- Miscellaneous errands as required
Experience
The successful candidate will ideally have experience in a similar role. Prior experience in Xero or a similar accounting program is beneficial but not essential. Training can be provided for all aspects of the role and it is intended to have a 2 week on job training/transition period with the outgoing staff member. We are looking for someone who is highly motivated with excellent organisational skills, as well as a desire to provide support to their authors. You must also demonstrate the following attributes:

- self-motivated with the ability to work autonomously as well as part of a team
