Salary: $79,910 – $86,499 p.a. plus 17% superannuation

The Melbourne Institute is Australia’s pre-eminent economic and social policy research institution. It undertakes high quality, independent and impartial applied research, and contributes to the development of public policy in Australia.  The Institute provides high calibre research to government, business and community groups. The Executive Officer (Projects) is a member of the professional team within the Melbourne Institute: Applied Economic and Social Research Team which sits within the Faculty of Business and Economics portfolio.

About the role

This role is dynamic and challenging and of significant importance to the Melbourne Institute which will require you to display a high level of discretion, independent judgment, attention to detail and professionalism whilst regularly interacting with internal and external stakeholders.

To be successful in the role you will be an experienced administrator who is expected to exercise confidentiality whilst undertaking a number of concurrent tasks demonstrating excellent organizational, prioritization and time management skills, be flexible and contribute to team-based activities and projects.

As your role will support the Director of the Melbourne Institute, it will be critical for you to create and maintain positive working relationships within the Departments, Faculty and University to ensure high quality and timely service is delivered to the Head and Institute overall.

About you

  • Outcomes focused project coordination skills including; project scoping, planning, project design and implementation.
  • Well-developed interpersonal skills to liaise consult and negotiate with internal stakeholders and colleagues at all levels and the proven ability to interpret and relay complex information.
  • High level written and oral communication skills and proven ability to apply appropriate strategies in a range of settings, including electronic and social media platforms
  • Well-developed organisational and planning skills, including the ability to use initiative, prioritise tasks in consultation with stakeholders and meet competing deadlines with accuracy.
  • Demonstrated problem solving skills with the ability to deliver creative solutions
