About the business
Established 1985, in the heart of Melbourne's Chinatown, the Chinese Museum's five floors showcase the heritage and culture of Australia's Chinese community. The Museum's purpose is to operate a museum, to promote and preserve Chinese Culture and history; especially that of Australian-Chinese history in Australia.
The Museum's visitation is focussed school children (over 25,000 per year), interstate and international tourists, local visitors and Chinese Community.
Our activities include exhibitions about Chinese Australian History, Chinese Culture and contemporary and traditional arts, and cultural events.
Working with a small team of staff, the environment is multicultural, fast paced and growing.
About the role

We are looking for an Education Bookings Officer as the front line for education customer service. This role is responsible for the day-to-day logistics of the Chinese Museum's school business using established processes and systems. These include taking bookings, scheduling, liaising with teachers and creating staff rosters. The ideal candidate will show an understanding of the complex and varied needs of teachers and students in Australian schools, and should like working around school-aged children. This role reports to the Education Manager.
This is a casual position. Hours required are 4 hours per day Monday to Friday, 9.30am-1.30pm approx. 40 weeks per year, during school term only. Would suit someone who wants to work only during school hours and school term.

Key Selection Criteria
- High level organisational and administration skills.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Capacity to deal with high-pressure environment.
- Capacity to take charge of a situation.
- Fluent written and spoken English (Mandarin an advantage).
- Excellent skills in MS Office and Google platform.
- Confident user of digital technologies. Must use WhatsApp on mobile phone.
- Some experience in a customer service position, dealing with the needs of diverse customers, would be beneficial.
- Some experience in an organising/coordinator position would be beneficial.
