About the role

The South Australian Cricket Association (SACA) is looking for a part-time Player Development Manager to work within the High Performance Department.  The purpose of this role is to implement individualised best-practice programs and policies in the areas of personal development, health and wellbeing, finance, and career development for female players at Women’s Big Bash League, State, and underage representative level cricket.

In this role, you will:

  • Provide proactive, individual case management support for female players throughout and beyond their cricket careers.
  • Provide appropriate first incident response to players who present with professional or personal issues.
  • Identify education skills gaps and providing formal advice about education opportunities that will assist players in achieving career plans.
  • Manage the delivery of all wellbeing programs through the building of trusted relationships with players, coaches, high performance staff, Cricket Australia and the ACA.
  • Implement best practice standards in the delivery of player development programs and ensure they are aligned with the vision and goals of the Australian Crickets’ Association (ACA), Cricket Australia and SACA.
  • Maintaining a network of contacts within government, industry and amongst professional development service providers and leverage those relationships to progress the welfare and personal development of players.

    About you

  • To support your transition into this role, you will have recognised qualifications in Psychology, Counselling, Career Development or Education.
  • You must be able to demonstrate the ability to build relationships across a diverse group of stakeholders and an in depth understanding of the on and off field requirements of elite athletes will be viewed favourably.
  • You have excellent verbal and written communication skills, with experience in handling a wide range of enquiries and providing excellent customer service, including a high level of initiative, tact and discretion in dealing with sensitive and confidential matters.
  • You have strong problem solving skills and the ability to use initiative and exercise sound judgement and ability to prioritise workload during busy periods.
  • You will hold a valid Working with Children Check or have the ability to obtain one.
