This is an exciting opportunity to put your stamp on the staging of major surf sports events in NSW. You will work closely with the Sports Manager, coordinating a range of tasks, including planning and implementing unique sporting events for one of Australia’s most iconic organisations.

Surf Life Saving NSW (SLSNSW) is the state’s primary water safety and rescue organisation and one of the largest volunteer movements in the country. We support more than 75,000 members in 129 clubs to serve the community through the provision of beach patrol services, coastal emergency response, training and education, sports and junior development.

Key responsibilities

  • Event Coordination – inclusive of planning, preparation, logistics, budgeting, delivery and evaluation
  • Ensure all aspects of SLSNSW sport events are implemented and delivered according to plans
  • Engage with and maintain effective relationship with various stakeholders including clubs, branches, councils, suppliers and volunteers
  • Assist with the marketing materials for promotion of sport events

Essential skills required

  • Experience in the staging of sports events involving high volume of member participants
  • Outstanding relationship building skills - liaise with internal and external stakeholders e.g. volunteers, officials and suppliers
  • Experience developing and implementing projects and working within budgets
  • Excellent communication skills, including both written and verbal - Internal and external communications such as memos and circulars, reports on events and meetings, information provided to members
  • Highly organised with excellent time management skills - event logistic timeframes are met as set in project plan
  • Ability to multi-task and work effectively in a fast paced environment - during events you will be working in a busy hands on environment in a supportive team atmosphere.

The right candidate for this role is self-motivated, takes initiative and enjoys working in an office environment and outdoors.  Driver’s licence is essential and you may be required to tow trailers to various beach locations across NSW.
