Our Leisure Services Department have below positions for experienced Senior Beach Lifeguards. If you have experience and passionate about the beach and the community we want to hear from you.

* 1 x Permanent Full Time
* 4 x Seasonal Temporary Full Time Contracts (September - April)

What you will do

As part of the Beach Lifeguard team, you will assess the prevailing conditions and display appropriate signage to minimise risk to the public. You will maintain concentrated observations of the primary areas and carry out rescues and initiate or render emergency care when necessary. You will be required to supervise casual staff and in the off-season participate in community education programs.

What you will need to be successful

To be successful you will need the minimum qualification requirements below, considerable ‘feet in the sand’ professional Beach Lifeguard experience, be customer focused and flexible to work with a 7-day roster.

* Certificate III Public Safety (Aquatic Search & Rescue) or, equivalent qualifications and competencies
* Accredited Provide Advanced Resuscitation certificate (HLTIAD007) from a registered training provider
* Considerable “feet in the sand” Professional Beach Lifeguarding experience
* Current - Provide senior first aid’ qualification, issued by a registered training provider
* Hold a - Administer oxygen in an emergency situation’ qualification, issued by a registered training provider (including defibrillator)
* Hold a current - Provide emergency care for suspected spinal injury” qualification, issued by a registered training provider
* Current NSW Personal Water Craft Licence
* Current paid employment Working With Children Check
* NSW RMS Class ‘C’ Drivers licence and demonstrated experience operating 4WD or ATV on sand

Salary: $61,703 - $66,424 a year plus 12% superannuation (permanent full time position)

$1, 183 - $1,273 a week plus 12% superannuation (seasonal temporary full time positions)


As part of the recruitment process all shortlisted candidates will require to undertake a practical and fitness assessment.

Please note as part of Council's recruitment process, prior to an offer of employment being made, recommended candidates will be required to undertake a pre-employment medical assessment with council doctor.
