The Gold Coast Football Club will play in the AFLW for the first time in 2020 and in a winter based competition in 2019 where we aim to build a reputation as the best club in the country at integrating our Male and Female athlete’s right from Academy level through to our elite teams.

Reporting to the SUNS General Manager – List & Strategy & working closely with the Football operations department, the Head of Women’s Football will be responsible for developing and leading our Women’s program within the Football Department. 

The Head of Women’s Football will have responsibility for the Senior Coach, playing group, broader coaching staff, and list and recruitment specialists to promote a high-performance culture and achievement of the goals and objectives. 

The Head of Women’s will be responsible for:

  • The delivery of the Gold Coast SUNS women’s strategy including recruitment of key staff across all areas of the program, list management, sports science, player welfare and development, development pathways and facilities plan in conjunction with relevant SUNS staff; 
  • The planning & delivery of day to day Football Operations for the women’s team;
  • Growth of the Women’s Academy in conjunction with the Academy Manager;
  • Develop procedures and structures with staff to ensure smooth operation of timetable;
  • Oversee operational issues in relation to training and scheduling, including travel bookings;
  • Key point of contact for all players;
  • Match day scheduling and operations including management of all volunteers and match day staff;
  • Budget development and management;
  • Developing and sustaining productive relationships with all key stakeholders (including sponsors), particularly with the local football clubs on the Gold Coast and North Queensland;

The ideal candidate will have:

  • A strong personal brand, including ability to display integrity and a commitment to professionalism and accountability;
  • Experience in a similar role working in a high-pressure elite sporting environment;
  • Proven leadership capability/experience;
  • Experience working with female athletes;
  • An understanding of the AFL/AFLW player rules and regulations;
  • Advanced computer literacy and excellent knowledge of Microsoft Office;
  • Superior organisational skills, strong attention to detail and ability to prioritise work, multi-task and meet tight time frames with an enthusiasm to achieve the best results;
  • An eye for detail and ability to exercise sound judgement under pressure and time constraints;
  • The ability to maintain strict confidentiality at all times;
  • A team focus and the ability to contribute to team goals;
  • High level of written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills;
  • Flexible and adaptable with the ability to work outside of business hours.
