About the role

Role and Responsibilities

The Event Director fulfills a key leadership role within the Operations Team and is in large part responsible, under the direction of the Chief Operating Officer, for the effective and efficient management and delivery of events within GTR Events.

The primary focus of the Event Director is to oversee the project, stakeholder and budget management of each event in their respective portfolio. The incumbent also is responsible for event planning processes, leading to the development of comprehensive event management plans which ensure the effective coordination of all functional area deliverables pre, during and post event.

The ultimate objective of the role is to lead a team to execute each event on-time and on-budget resulting in events of the highest quality.

Gaining positive feedback and further enhancing key stakeholder relationships is crucial as is the meeting of contractual obligations with both corporate and government event partners.

  • Overall event management and decision making to assure that all aspects of the event are executed efficiently and effectively against KPI's.
  • Overall development, definition and communication of event objectives and KPI's with measurable outcomes.
  • Overall development, definition and communication of event concepts, products and services
  • Overall accountability to primary stakeholders via overseeing the management of their expectations and contractual agreements across events.
  • Overall development, communication and management of an efficient event delivery timeline to meet event deadlines, objectives and KPI's.
  • Overall Budget development, management, reporting and accountability
  • Overall development, communication and management of a sustainable event workforce structure with supporting outline of roles and responsibilities for the assigned workforce
  • Overall development, definition and communication of Commercial, Marketing, Operations & Financial strategies specific to events.
  • Overall development, communication and management of event processes, policies and procedures with complimentary and specific training to event workforce, enabling delivery.
  • Overall responsibility for Risk Management and Emergency Management Plans and communication identifying and assessing possible risks and opportunities associated with the event.
  • Overall responsibility & management of the attainment of required event public liability insurance, OHS standards, event sanctioning and required permits on behalf of GTR and stakeholders.
  • Administration of internal and external event meeting schedules as required.
  • Willingness to travel intra/interstate, and undertake weekend and out of hours work as required
  • Demonstrate strong communications at all times
