About the Opportunity

Garnduwa is now seeking an enthusiastic full-time Active Communities Coordinator to join their dedicated team in Fitzroy Crossing, WA.

Reporting to the Fitzroy Valley Area Manager, you will be primarily responsible for coordinating the development of a Community Sport and Recreation Plan in the remote communities surrounding the Fitzroy Crossing area.

This rewarding role will see you directly influencing the way Garnduwa continues to strive towards its ultimate goal of achieving long-lasting improvements in the opportunities and participation of Aboriginal people in purposeful recreational and sporting activities.

More specifically, some of your key duties will include (but will not be limited to):

  • Supporting, mentoring and training Community Recreation officers, volunteers and/or community members in order to help build a sustainable Community Sport and Recreation Plan;
  • Assisting communities and their schools to participate in ongoing competitions and sporting activities;
  • Initiating and maintaining relationships with key stakeholders in support of the Community Sport and Recreation Plan and regional service delivery;
  • Collecting and collating participant data and social outcome achievements;
  • Preparing regular performance reports to relevant funding and associated agencies in regards to program delivery, program outcomes and relevant recommendations;
  • Preparing grant submissions to assist with sport and recreation program delivery; and
  • Maintaining cultural identification and awareness within all Garnduwa programs.
