ABOUT THE ORGANISATION
With a history of successfully managing fitness, aquatic and recreation facilities for universities and local governments throughout Australia, the YMCA is excited to promote our newest partnership with Queensland University of Technology (QUT).
THE OPPORTUNITY
An exciting leadership opening awaits an enthusiastic and passionate Centre Director to launch and manage our newest fitness and aquatic facility at QUT Gardens Point. Located within the Science and Engineering Centre of the campus, our facility is available for students, staff and the general public so we require the talent of an experienced, operator who can develop the potential and build connection, belonging and community.
ABOUT THE ROLE
The Centre Director will work in collaboration with the Area Manager, YMCA and QUT stakeholders to deliver outstanding customer service through the achievement of operational excellence and innovative fitness and aquatic options. With a stunning state of the art Olympic 50m indoor heated swimming pool we have the capacity to offer a broad range of aquatic programs and activities. The facility will promote a culture that is inclusive of the diverse range of people in our community and champion the YMCA values of honesty, respect, caring and responsibility.
ABOUT YOU
As a new facility for the YMCA, you will need to be a self-starter, experienced in setting goals and empowering your team to achieve them. This is a hands-on role, you will need to be responsive to the needs of the environment with the capacity to manage all aspects of a successful fitness and aquatic facility. As a people leader you are focussed on building engagement and promoting an environment dedicated to safety. Your drive and motivation, coupled with the ability to provide outstanding customer service and your community mindedness is essential to this key leadership position.
THE SUCCESSFUL APPLICANT
It is essential that you have the following:
- At least 2 years’ demonstrated management experience in a fitness and aquatic facility
- Staff supervisory experience including a successful track-record in managing proactive sales teams
- Strong administrative skills with a demonstrated capacity to be organised and work autonomously
- Exceptional customer service and stakeholder engagement skills
- High level communication skills - both written and oral
- High level IT skills
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor of Human Movement / Management or equivalent
- Current Pool Plant Operations Certificate (Royal Lifesaving Australia)
- Current Senior First Aid and CPR certificates
- Hold a current positive notice Blue Card, or the capacity to obtain one
- Safeguarding Children accreditation
