REQUIREMENT

Skout Solutions are seeking a number of Gym Attendants/Lifeguards (combined role) for roles based in Puckapunyal. We are open to both full time and part time candidates for these roles. Roles are on an ongoing temporary basis Mon-Sun on a roster working 15-30 hours per week. Attractive hourly rate on offer. It is preferred that you have no annual leave requirements in the first 2 months. This role has an urgent ASAP start by end of June/early August 2019.

TASKS

Gym attendant tasks to include:

• Supervision of the gym area and controlling access of personnel, whilst maintaining an attendance register for all sporting & fitness facilities
• Providing support for sporting activities and associated administration
• Liaising with others around facility service/repairs
• Manage and account for all equipment, conducting routine inspections
• Ensure facilities are safe, clean and hygienic for use
• Complete and maintain all necessary paperwork
• Perform any other duties required by management

Lifeguard tasks to include:

• General pool management and administration in regards to quality and legislation
• Overseeing Emergency Action Plan
• Checking/using the pool rescue equipment
• Supervising bathers, ensuring they adopt safe water entry and pool area practices
• Ensure that there is at least one lifeguard on duty and facing the water at all times while bathers are in the pool area - this will be done on a roster basis
• Intervene in any non-safe practice,. Ensure that non-swimming activities, such as cleaning, lane rope changes or SCUBA testing, pose no danger or inconvenience to swimmers and that they are in accordance with the GSPO’s and do not affect the supervision of patrons and as per GSPO SU4 Lifeguard Duties.
• Ensure and emphasise that proper supervision is maintained over children as per the GSPO SU3 Supervision of Children.

REQUIRED CERTIFICATES

Gym Attendant certificates:

• Certificate III in Health and Fitness (Gym Instructor) or Certificate IV (Personal Trainer)

Lifeguard certificates:

• HLTFA311A Apply Senior First Aid
• HLTCPR211A Perform CPR
• PUAEME001B Provide Emergency Care
• PUAEME003C Administer oxygen in an emergency situation
• SISCAQU202A Perform basic water rescues
• SISCAQU306A Supervise clients at an aquatic facility or environment
• SISCAQU307A Perform advanced water rescues
• HLTFA311A Apply Senior First Aid Refresher course annually as per the GSPO SU5 Accreditation For Pool Lifeguards
• Requalify in all lifeguard specific competencies annually
• Hold a current Working with Children Check
• Rescue and Resuscitation qualifications (often known as depth test) to at least the deepest part of the pool at their facility (valid for 12 months).

SKILLS/EXPERIENCE

• Previous experience as both a gym attendant AND lifeguard are highly desirable - if you only have experience in 1 of these areas, or even no experience, we are happy to also provide training
• It is ESSENTIAL that all of the above certificates are able to be provided
• Competent level of computer skills, including Microsoft Office
• Able to provide excellent customer service
• Flexible and adaptable
• Able to work well both within a team and on an individual basis
• Good time management skills
• Flexible and able to work to changing priorities
