About the business

Olam is a large International Company with operations in many countries. The Company has a well - established presence in Australia with a particularly strong footprint in the Eastern States. They operate an integrated supply chain for 5 key products: Cotton, Almonds, Pulses, Cocoa and Dairy.

This particular role is involved in the Almond business and will be based in Mildura.

The specific purpose of this role is to oversee and manage the orchard operations with the aim to maximise the company's long term financial return through timely and efficient execution of the orchard management plan.

Some role dimensions: 12 direct reports and 120 indirect reports with 10 orchards.

About the role

This role is all about Leadership and strong Horticultural knowledge, and to guide, advise and mentor the Farm Managers to achieve the best outcomes from their farms in all aspects of OHS, Production and Continuous Improvement.

Skills and experience

We are looking for a passionate and resilient Manager/Leader who has the "horsepower" to drive change and make a difference to overall results, and who can challenge the status quo and lead from the front.

  • A minimum of 5 years' experience in a similar role in Farm Operational Management and strong experience levels in managing teams in a corporate Agricultural environment.
  • Sound experience and expertise in irrigation, fertilisation, spraying procedures, pest and disease on trees, and pruning techniques.
  • Relevant Horticultural qualifications (General Agronomy, Agricultural Science, Agricultural Economics etc.), together with a passion for Continuous Improvement.
  • A strong desire to become an integral team member who drives outcomes.

This role has realistic career opportunities to move into a more senior position once performance is delivered by meeting company objectives.
