Arapala Macadamia Farm
Macadamia farmer – Jindilli plantation.
Arapala Macadamia Farms are owned by the Dymocks Group and are located on the mid north coast of NSW. The farms comprise four locations and about 80,000 macadamia trees aged between five and 30 years.
Arapala is a leader in the macadamia industry and was recently awarded large grower of the year. Its business goal is to be a profitable supplier of high quality macadamia kernel. The farm encourages excellence and research to improve nut quality and production.
We are seeking an energetic farm/orchard operator to take responsibility for an existing 25,000-tree farm in the idyllic mid-north coastal region of NSW. The successful applicant will be responsible for improving the tree health of the young plantation and maximising production, in consultation with the farm manager.
This is a appointment for a person who enjoys hands-on work.
Required skills
- Self motivated; able to work alone and set own work program, albeit with guidance from the farm manager.
- An understanding of how to grow and manage trees; and horticultural best practices.
- Ability to safely operate farm machinery including tractors, mowers, spray units and RTVs
- Ability to supervise seasonal contractors and employees.
- Ability to analyse, monitor and record activities and developments.
- Ability to implement short and long term orchard strategies.
- Regular reporting to the Dymocks farm manger.
- Computer literate in Word and Excel, for reporting.
Desirable: Bachelor's degree or equivalent in Agriculture, Agribusiness, Agronomy or Horticulture.Truck license and/or other heavy machinery license, chainsaw licence would be an advantage.
Essential: Horticulture/agriculture experience. Non-smoker. Driver's license.
