Our Client
Our client is a well-established biotechnology company which specialises in advanced microbial technology for use in the agricultural and horticultural industries. The company offers a range of rumen modifiers, forage preservatives, soil biostimulant and plant elicitor products and have been selling and marketing their product range in Australia for around 20 years. The business is undergoing significant expansion at present and now requires an experienced sales and marketing manager who can work on a national basis to drive sales working with the industry technical people and agronomists, key distributors and potential customers.

The Role
Reporting to the Sales & Marketing Director located in New Zealand you will be responsible for managing the sales activities and selected business development initiatives for the company's highly-specialized soil biostimulant and plant elicitor products in Australia, with a major focus  on horticulture crops in South East Australia (VIC, SA, southern NSW). You will develop and action the sales strategy and deliver on sales volumes and margin targets through the use of existing high quality distribution channels. The major market focus is in the horticulture industry.

Duties

  • Develop the sales and marketing strategy in order to maximise sales revenue, profit and company objectives;
  • Assist in the development of on-farm grower and R&D trial strategies to demonstrate product efficacy under  different circumstances and also to gain registration of new products;
  • Develop key accounts in collaboration with distributors and build relationships with existing customers and potential customers to maximise sales;
  • Provide technical/field assistance for trials, demonstrations and product development as required;
  • Undertake ongoing educational training and promotional initiatives with potential customers;
  • Provide appropriate reports and ensure the required financial responsibilities are undertaken such as trading agreements and inventory management.

Requirements
This role will need a person with a proven track record of sales achievement in an horticulture agronomy role together with an understanding of the products, seasonal timings and general requirements of horticulture producers. You will require outstanding customer service, organisation and administration skills, together with high-level communication and stakeholder management capabilities in order to build strong relationships with key stakeholders, customers and colleagues. It is anticipated that you will have at least 8-10 years’ experience in horticultural sales and strong business development experience. A tertiary qualification in agricultural and/or horticultural science or a related field and a current driver’s license is essential.

Remuneration and Location
Remuneration is excellent and will be structured to attract the right candidate to this role, based on skills and experience.The role will be based in Victoria or South Australia, location is flexible.
