About the Company:

Biosecurity, food safety and protecting Australia’s Clean Green image is something this role has a direct impact with.

About the role:

You will be a key agent for change and manage a number of scientific and extension programs, all focusing on meeting the needs of vegetable growers. You will report to the CEO, mentor a team of project officers and will be a key member of the organisations’ leadership team.

As the lead for the extension division you will be involved in ensuring growers interests are represented on a number of industry and intergovernmental task forces and committees, particularly in the areas of biosecurity, food safety and agricultural sustainability. The ability to provide sound scientific & technical advice, provide effective representation for growers, as well as strong project management experience, with an eye to business growth, are critical elements of the role.

Skills & Experience:

  • Sounds scientific experience re plant health and the importance of safeguarding against biosecurity issues;
  • Component project management skills
  • Ability to monitor, analyse and interpret the science of vegetable production;
  • Excellent people skills and networks in the industry, government and academia; 
  • Engage with growers to develop an understanding of current and emerging industry needs, and stay informed about current industry and government initiatives
  • Good understanding of how strategy can play a proactive part in change;
  • Demonstrable track record of project funding acquisition, budget tracking, and contract management;
