Having undergone a significant and sustainable expansion of its business through recent acquisitions, the Mitolo Group offers the perfect opportunity for a highly motivated individual to join its Seed Potato Operations based Hillston New South Wales.

The Role
Reporting to the Farm Manager you will be responsible for the performing seed variety trials including the raising of tubers, planting and raising of seed in large scale planting beds, quality checking and treatment of seed and seed coolroom management. You will see the full potato seed process from end to end and will be responsible for the selection of seed based on planting plans, quality and yield required.

To be successful you will possess the following:

  • Experience in the raising and trial of seed
  • Experience in preparing and treating seed potato for storage and planting
  • Sound knowledge of pest and plant diseases and the application of fertilisers and chemicals
  • Experience with irrigation and watering systems (centre pivot irrigation preferred)
  • Experience with soil moisture monitoring and testing
  • Excellent record keeping and the ability to document trials and testing of seed varieties
  • Sound computer skills
  • Driver’s licence
