LOCATION
Southern Alberta, Canada
THE OPPORTUNITY
Canada is renowned for its high quality beef production. The Canadian beef industry contributes $33 billion to the Canadian economy annually. The success of the industry relies on healthy, well cared for cattle.
Australian cattle workers are highly regarded in Canada, having developed a strong reputation for their livestock management skills and horsemanship, and being able to readily adapt to what is regarded as a similar culture.
Our client, a family company based in southern Alberta operates 8 sites and is the largest feedlot operation in Canada. They have multiple vacancies for people with livestock handling experience to work in various roles on finishing feedlots.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Receive and document new cattle arrivals
- Tag, vaccinate and assess animal health and welfare
- Record and document accurate cattle records.
- Monitor food and water supplies
- Sort and move cattle
- Ration preparation and feeding
- Operate and maintain machinery
- Supervise and train employees
REQUIREMENTS
- Prior experience in some aspect of cattle livestock rearing, feeding or handling is essential together with the ability to ride a horse
- Tertiary qualifications in animal husbandry or agriculture will be highly regarded but is not essential
Work visas will be arranged free of charge for selected applicants and airfares met for travel to Canada for those who stay for an agreed qualifying period.
