FARM MANAGER
ORANA AGRICULTURE PTY LTD
Orana Agriculture is a privately-owned company operating a diverse farming enterprise over a total of 16,100Ha across Victoria, NSW and QLD. Our operation comprises a mix of conventional, certified sustainable and organic programs.
Reporting to the Chief Operations Manager, an experienced hands on Farm Manager is required to manage the day to day operations of our North-West Victoria farm which comprises 4,600Hectares of both dryland and irrigated cropping area.
Duties include, but will not limited to:
- Being responsible for all the day to day on farm operations
- Managing on farm operations in line with financial budgets and cropping and livestock plans developed
- Assist in delivering agronomic solutions to ensure the adoption of new sustainable farming systems that use best farming practices to maximize production, reduce costs, and provide for long term sustainability
- Manage all in crop requirements including pre-sowing programs, sowing, spraying, fertiliser application, irrigation scheduling, inspections and harvesting.
- Management of the on-farm livestock production/grazing program
- Manage, monitor, evaluate and report on farm performance
- Ensure all plant and equipment is maintained to a high standard and in safe working condition
The successful applicant will ideally demonstrate:
- High level agronomic experience in a conventional, certified sustainable and organic cropping environment.
- Previous experience with irrigated and dryland broad acre cropping, including the operation, maintenance and management of necessary equipment and implements.
- Understanding of insecticides, fungicides, weedicides, and agronomic prescriptions
- Understanding of livestock programs including management and general animal husbandry
- Be mechanically minded and have experience with GPS Guidance systems.
- General use of Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel and Email programs
- Experience showing ability to report in a timely and efficient manner.
- Implementation of processes and procedures to ensure a safe and efficient working environment.
- Ability to use initiative, self-motivated with a clear focus on effective planning, time management and decision-making.
- Be reputable, reliable, respectful and able to work co-operatively in a team environment
Qualifications
- Qualification in Agronomy and/or other related qualifications will be highly regarded.
- Current Drivers Licence – mandatory
- Current HC Truck Licence
- Current Chemical Users Certificate
